An Enhanced UHPC-Grout Shear Connection for Steel-Concrete Composite Bridges with Precast Decks

This article develops an enhanced UHPC-grout shear connection for steel-concrete composite bridges with precast decks. The primary improvement is the use of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) as grout. To validate constructability and mechanical new connection, two series experimental tests (including grouting push-out tests) were conducted. Results from show that both pressure method self-levelling are applicable to inject UHPC grout into channel void connection. indicate advanced properties allow a significant resistance adhesive over traditional cementitious grouts. ultimate capacity controlled by interface strength between embossed steel grout, cohesion value approximately 5.87 MPa. Meanwhile, residual frictional can be taken one-half resistance. results finite-element analysis trilinear model reasonable simulate shear-slip laws steel-grout rough concrete-grout interface.
